The Everyday Watch.

Our original design. The Everyday Watch featured a Swiss-quartz movement, 40mm 316L steel casing, and a clean, minimal date-dial. It took inspiration from the industrial design of the mid 20th century and our desire to build a wristwatch that pairs premium quality Swiss and German components with a simple, utilitarian aesthetic.

Our packaging.

The ‘DIY’ layout of the Everyday Watch (initially called Instrmnt 01), was what first got us attention from press, customers and potential retailers back in the early days.

We liked the idea of providing customers with the tools and components (pins, casing, a forked and pointed strap tool, straps), along with clear instructions allowing them to complete the final stage of assembly themselves. It gave them the ability and knowledge to swap out straps in the future, a handy skill for a watch wearer. Perhaps more so, it was an enjoyable challenge - for most - that created a connection between the watch and its new owner.

The packaging materials and visual language changed three times between 2014 and 2021, but the layout always stayed the same. Our most recent iteration removed all glue, plastic or non bio-degradeable materials. The utilitarian Swiss-made greyboard box was recycled, as was the bamboo pulp insert. The outer band was made from GF Smith card stock, printed and debossed. Had to do something fancy.
